There are many reasons why you should choose an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon over the General Dentist:
The Oral Surgeon:

*Oral Surgeons remove approximately 3000 wisdom teeth during residency and continue to remove 2000+ annually.
*Oral Surgeons are trained and licensed in IV Sedation and General Anesthesia.
*Oral Surgeons are Certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support .
The General Dentist:
General Dentist complete the same 4 year dental school program but have not completed a surgical residency.
*General Dentist often have only 2-3 weeks of training in the Oral Surgery clinic during their 4 years of dental school.
*Most remove wisdom teeth under local anesthesia.
*If they provide sedation it is usually in the oral form.
*Few have completed a weekend course to provide IV sedation.
